2021 Finals Match

Four Teams squared off and the winners will meet for the League Championship and the losers will meet for the consolation match crying into their beers…
Allie and Kevin R. met up with Mike G. and Paul D.(fill-in for Craig). They battled to a draw after 9 holes so went to a playoff hole and played #1 again where Paul and Mike prevailed.
Tony and Bill squared off against Kevin H. and me. It was tied after 5 holes and then the wheels started to come off of the rails for “The Kids”. It barreled out of control to a 15-25 blistering that may well take the off-season to heal properly.
So, the Championship Match pits Tony and Bill against Mike G. and Paul D.(Craig substitute).
Same as last week: match up and get out there wherever the starters allow. Remember to let them know you’re from Shipley Golf League.
There will be a presentation/announcement of the various winners of the contests and I will disperse left over fees/dues/savings to the members. If anyone is not present for their fair share I will contact you about how to get that money to you.
As of this moment I have all the shirt size requests and will contact the embroidery people tomorrow for their reply. Let’s keep a good thought.
Thanks for a good year.
Luke and Rusty

Week 2 of playoffs has winners and losers. Week 3 has been scheduled

Members,
Chris Riley and his trained monkey Ron Bates (subbing for Erick Manda who was subbing for Rick Manda who was subbing for Spiro Agnew) lost to Tony and Bill. Ron did OK against Bill 12-8, Chris played like crap against Tony and lost 7-13.

Paul Dwayne(aka Duane) and Kevin Zaphir initially looked to be winners at the table after the round. However when your court reporter sat down mayhem ensued where Ron Just trying to help Bates asked me about how to apply the strokes to the match, at that point I lost my shit. Turns out Paul and Kevin didn’t win outright against Mike Gallagher and Craig Marsh. I verified the corrected scoring and determined it was a 20-20 tie. Then I told the groups to go play some kind of playoff contest to decide a winner. Then it got quiet when Paul mentioned that Mike and Craig had left the premises. So, each match was examined by comparing the cards, hardest hole first for a team winner. It only took the hardest hole, number 16. Mike and Kevin tied. Paul lost to Craig. So,Craig and Mike will move on.

Gary and Ken held Kevin Horgan and me tight the whole night. It came down to the last 2 holes where we edged away for the 21-19 win. Gary and Ken had a make or break putt on the last hole where Gary left a putt 2 inches short coming down 6 foot from above the hole. Brutal.

Allie and Kevin Riley dispatched Steve G. and Keith M. 23-17 to advance.

For all the teams out of the playoffs: It’s getting dark early so seek out playing on some of the other sides of the property (talk to the starters when doing so. I still need accurate counts of players.)

Paul Dwayne has agreed to sub in for Craig Marsh (out the next 2 weeks for business travel).

Check the schedule and good luck to those still in it.
Regards, Luke and Rusty
